Ethiopian literature like the Kebra Nagast (“The Glory of Kings”) claims that Judaism was taken to Ethiopia by the Queen of Sheba (as in 1 Kings 10 and 2 Chronicles 9), who bore King Solomon’s son Menelek, from whom the Ethiopian kings descended. The history of Judaism and Christianity in Ethiopia begins early–even if we can’t be sure exactly when.
